The Mental Health & Construction Industry seminar originally scheduled for Jan. 30 has been moved to Feb. 6 due a scheduling conflict.

The updated event details are:

Time: 6:45 a.m. – Registration opens
7 a.m. – Breakfast buffet is served
7:30 a.m. – First of two speakers takes the stage

The BC Construction Safety Alliance and VRCA are co-hosting the seminar to discuss the importance of mental health among those in the construction industry and how employers can support their employees through their mental health journeys.

Entitled “An Adventure Within: How to Become more (Hu)Manly & Tangible Tools for your Company,” the seminar will feature former CFL player Shea Emry and Donna Grant of Scott Construction.

Emry currently works closely with The Canadian Men’s Health Foundation and Bell’s “Let’s Talk” Campaign and is the founder of Wellmen, an organization that strives to improve the overall health of men by teaching them modern-day survival skills.

Donna Grant is a member of the Scott Construction Group Mental Health Committee and has worked hard to decrease the stigma surrounding mental illness in their workplace. She is certified in mental health first aid and is passionate about supporting overall wellness within her team.
